Mazida Ammos Beach: Crete’s Secluded Coastal Paradise

Mazida Ammos is the longest beach in the Xerokambos area, characterized by its wide shoreline and calm, clear waters. The eastern end of the beach is sheltered by Cape Trachilos, providing protection from winds and contributing to the beach’s serene atmosphere. Nearby, the sea cave Fokiospilio and the small Kavali islets add to the scenic beauty, making it a picturesque spot for relaxation and photography.

Mazida Ammos is not only perfect for swimming and sunbathing but also offers opportunities for snorkeling and paddleboarding in its clear waters. The surrounding area features hiking trails with stunning coastal views, and nearby attractions include the ancient settlements near Xerokambos and the scenic Xerokambos Gorge.

The beach is best accessed by car, with the nearest airport located in Sitia, approximately 60 km away. From Heraklion, the drive is about 200 km. The journey offers picturesque views of Crete’s diverse landscapes.
